Locations Show, organized in Los Angeles by the Association of Film Commissioners International, is a marketplace connecting commercial, film and television professionals to global production locations and film funding resources.
This year for the first time, Poland holds its own booth at the market. The stand is coordinated by Film Commission Poland with the support of regional partners: the City of Gdansk, Mazovia Warsaw Film Commission and Podkarpackie Film Commission. FCP also takes part in the panel Around The World in 90 Minutes: Opportunities, Options and Outcomes, alongside fellow film commissioners from France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Thailand and Iceland.
‘Our biggest advantage is the diversity of the locations and their adaptability - Poland could easily be used as a stand-in for other countries,’ says Tomasz Dąbrowski, head of Film Commission Poland. ‘But it is the combination of unique locations and incentives for audiovisual production that is the best recipe for attracting foreign producers and developing further the Polish film industry,’ he adds.
Before the AFCI Location Show began, FCP had met with representatives of American film studios - Walt Disney Studios, Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures as well as Netflix - to present the plans and the main principles regarding the introduction of incentives for audiovisual production in Poland. ‘The initiative of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage was very well received by American producers. Now they are waiting for specific solutions,’ concludes Dąbrowski.
The show will wrap up with the 4th Annual LMGI Awards ceremony held at the Warner Bros. Studios to celebrate outstanding achievements of location managers and film commissions from around the world.
